About Sanctuaries
Animal Place's Sanctuaries website is dedicated to giving animal lovers the opportunity to volunteer, intern, or support organizations that rescue and advocate on behalf of farmed animals. This is an ongoing list.
How to be Added
Basic Requirements for Listing
Rescue at least one species of farmed animal including but not limited to: chickens, turkeys, cows, pigs, ducks, geese, sheep, goats, rabbits, king pigeons, horses. Sanctuaries.org focuses on promoting and bringing awareness to those organizations that expand our circle of compassion to animals exploited for their flesh, mammary secretions, fiber, and eggs. We do not generally list wildlife or exotic animal rescues or dog/cat sanctuaries.
Does not further exploit farmed animals meaning the organization does not use or cause further harm to the animals. This includes slaughtering, intentionally breeding, selling eggs/milk/fiber or for use in entertainment.
Adopted animals are not intentionally harmed meaning if your shelter adopts out animals, those animals are neutered (if species appropriate and safe), not adopted to be killed or intentionally bred or used for milk production. If chickens or other poultry are adopted and adopters consume eggs, adopters must provide life-long care to the animals.
Provide lifelong and appropriate care to sanctuary residents
Promote veganism
